I have a great and abiding love of Barbara Hambly's Darwath books ever since The Walls of Air hooked me on fantasy: up until then I had mostly been reading Sci-Fi (I read all of E.E. "Doc" Smith before my teens) and Thrillers (likewise Alistair McLean) and this opened up a whole new avenue for burying myself in a story to blot out the world.

One thing we're learning on the podcast is that it's not possible for all of us to have read everything. I guess this is proof, but you'd have to ask Seanan. :-)

Just listening to this episode, and there was talk about smallpox in misters at Disney. A variation of this was actually done in a book. Yep, in a Tom Clancy novel, in fact. In Rainbow Six, the eco-terrrorist group decides to wipe out almost the entire human race to save the planet, and they bio-engineer a robust version of ebola, and their first step is to plant it in the misters at the marathon/closing ceremonies of the Sydney Olympics. That way, everyone gets exposed, and are on their way home to places all around the globe before they ever show symptoms.

I'd say 'shame on you' to Seanan at least for not knowing about this, but it is a Tom Clancy monster tome, after all.
